AGR 2022 Round Up

2022 was a busy year for Advance Global Recruitment (AGR): we substantially increased our candidate portfolio and launched a new division – Advance Global Recruitment Training (AGRT). The new division successfully supports the growth of our existing resource pool and has enhanced our ability to provide personnel to clients and upskill workers across the Energy Market.

Internally, AGR continues to grow; our headcount increased by 20%, and the new arrivals allowed us to recognise and reward numerous existing staff with well-earned promotions.

Throughout 2022, and in keeping with our commitment to giving something back, we continued to support multiple charities such as Hello Yellow and Young Lives vs Cancer.

Join us as we look back at some key moments that shaped AGR’s last 12 months of business.

January 2022: New Aberdeen Offices

The year began with the relocation of our Team in Aberdeen to new premises at Union Point, Blaikies Quay. The move started at the end of 2021 as part of a continued growth strategy. With a freshly renovated office, the plan was to create an open-plan and modern space to provide a positive and collaborative working environment for the team. We are proud of our new Aberdeen office and the excitement experienced by the team who play a significant role in the future of AGR as a global company.

March 2022: Awarded a Sole Supplier Contract

AGR was awarded a sole supplier agreement to support COSL Drilling Europe AS (COSL) drilling contractors.

Since then, we have successfully supplied all the required personnel for The COSL Innovator, COSL’s 6th Generation harsh environment semi-submersible drilling unit in the North Sea.

COSL contracted AGR, and the campaign at the UKCS required specialist drilling personnel recruited through AGR as part of the project partnership.

May 2022: Annual Awards with Steve Ray

In May 2022, we held our 2021 Annual Awards. An event we organised to celebrate success, but it also served as a stark reminder of why health and safety are vital within the offshore and energy industry. In attendance at this event was the influential Steve Ray, a survivor of the Piper Alpha disaster, the industry’s most significant fatal offshore accident.

Steve is also the Executive Director of ‘Step Change in Safety‘, an organisation founded in 1997 to increase the industry’s safety. Read more here about our annual award ceremony focused on inspiration, success and health and safety.

June 2022: AGRT Launches

June saw the launch of our new division – Advance Global Recruitment Training or AGRT. We created AGRT to support the Training and Compliance requirements of all our clients.

Over a year in the planning, it is the result of our ongoing commitment to meeting the ever-changing needs in the industry. The management team at AGR listen to clients; from this, we identified a need to support the delivery of high-quality individuals who can discover, assess, and manage training and competency for applicants and customers. Utilising our depth of knowledge, experience, and expertise, we now offer a comprehensive service that complies with all current industry requirements.

Looking for a current career change? Contact us at Training@agrl.co.uk to see what courses we currently have running. Read more here about the launch of AGRT and how we can help you.

August 2022: Aberdeen Open Day & Charity Football Match

We had an Open Day in August at our Aberdeen Office for our Training Division, AGRT. We showcased our collaboration with AIS Survivex at this event after signing a unique Framework Agreement with them. The Open Day was a way of ensuring that we are providing high-quality industry-level training to all our candidates.

The Open Day was accessible to everyone, and our team was on hand to answer any questions people had about their careers in the energy sector. AGR colleagues collaborated with Survivex to provide top tips on how individuals could transition into promising new employment in the Drilling, Subsea, Survey or Renewables sectors.

Additionally, in August, our office entered two 5-a-side teams into the Edinburgh Business Fives corporate charity football event, where they raised money for Young Lives vs Cancer. The team exceeded their original goal of £1,000 and raised £1,775 for the chosen charity. Our donation page is still open here, if you are still looking to donate to a charity dedicated to helping families affected by cancer.

October 2022: Young Minds x AGR – #HelloYellow Campaign

For World Mental Health Day on the 10th of October 2022, our offices in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dubai participated in raising money and awareness for Young Minds UK’s Hello Yellow campaign.

The team in Aberdeen held a bake sale where they raised £126 for their fantastic efforts. And all the offices participated by wearing a piece of yellow clothing to work to support the campaign. Along with these efforts, the staff ran or walked a 5k during their lunch break. Not only was it a true sense of effort, but an appreciation that exercise is excellent for your mental health as it releases endorphins, which are feel-good hormones.

We also want to thank everyone who donated and helped us smash our target for Young Minds UK. The team raised over £600 for the charity and cause. A fantastic effort!

November 2022: Promotions and Work Anniversaries

We celebrated our incredible staff’s achievements throughout the year 2022. First, our Operations Manager of the Survey and Inspection team, Neil Hogg, celebrated his 10th year of service with AGR. Neil spearheaded the department’s growth while managing clients globally; he has always exceeded expectations throughout his service. We were happy to recognise Neil for his unwavering commitment to his team and the company.

We also celebrated Danielle Woods’ promotion. Danielle began as our Global Compliance Manager and has been a crucial member of the AGR team, demonstrating exceptional leadership and hard work, notably in creating our internal 3-tier Verification Procedure and new training and compliance section – AGRT. Danielle is a shining example of the ideals and values of the business that we all try to uphold daily. We were delighted to promote Danielle, now AGR’s Global Compliance and Training Director.
